Input, update, render — forever.

The flipbook heartbeat

A game is a flipbook drawn dozens of times a second: read the controls, move everything a little, draw the frame, repeat. That endless heartbeat is the game loop.

Three steps, repeated

Every frame the game reads input, updates state (positions, score), then renders. Keeping logic separate from drawing keeps the game consistent.
