The bedtime line-up
At bedtime you line your stuffed animals along the pillow and touch each one as you say its number: one bunny, two bear, three fox. You never touch the same one twice, so nobody gets counted twice — and the very next friend you add is always 'one more' than the last.
One touch, one number
When we count, we point to each thing and say one number for it: one, two, three. We don't skip and we don't count the same thing twice.
One more
Each number is just 'one more' than the one before. After 7 comes 8, because 8 is one more than 7.
