The four-square forecast

A Punnett square is like a tiny weather forecast for traits: a 2×2 grid combining parents' alleles to predict the odds for their children.

Reading the grid

Cross Bb × Bb and the grid gives 1 BB : 2 Bb : 1 bb — a 3-to-1 ratio of dominant to recessive.
