Days & the Calendar

Talk about days and dates in Spanish.

What you'll learn

  • Name the days of the week
  • Ask and say what day it is
  • Notice days are lowercase in Spanish
Making the weekend plan

'¿Nos vemos el sábado?' — see you Saturday? Days and dates are how you set plans, so knowing lunes through domingo lets you actually arrange life in Spanish instead of just naming objects.

Los días de la semana

The Spanish week runs lunes, martes, miércoles, jueves, viernes, sábado, domingo. Unlike English, days are not capitalized. To ask the day you say '¿Qué día es hoy?' and answer 'Hoy es…'.

The week starts on Monday

In Spanish-speaking calendars the week usually begins with lunes (Monday), not Sunday.
